Music Review: Tim McGraw's Emotional Traffic | Style
From the day I started listening to country music, Tim McGraw has been one of my favorite artists. He has a good vocal range and the ability to make albums with a little bit of everything. By that I mean that he has a mix of up-tempo, nostalgic, and inspiring songs.
In my opinion, some of the best songs on this album were Halo, I Will Not Fall Down, Hey Now, and One Part, Two Part. Hey Now and One Part, Two Part are fun and upbeat with a more relaxed and playful tune. I was especially intrigued by One Part, Two Part. Every now and then an artist will come out with a song that is mainly composed of repetitive lyrics that don’t seem to have much meaning. However, Tim McGraw did just the opposite with One Part, Two Part. Although the lyrics are a bit repetitive, they really contribute to the meaning of the song and sound as if they were composed by a poet. Halo and I Will Not Fall Down had a slower tempo than the other two songs. Of the two I found Halo to be more interesting to listen to because to understand what the song was about, I had to focus on the lyrics and understand the metaphors. Once I really got the song, I had to laugh to myself because I thought it could be a good life lesson for some people. I Will Not Fall Down was so incredibly touching and from the first time I listened to it I thought it would’ve been the perfect song to play at the end of the movie The Blind Side.
Overall I thought that “Emotional Traffic” was a fantastic mix of songs that people of every age will be able to enjoy any day of the week. Tim McGraw did an excellent job putting this album together, and I’m sure it will be many people’s guilty pleasure in the months to come.
