NOCATEE, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious incident in which a man in a white truck approached a young girl and offered to help her find her way home.

On Monday around 4 p.m., two sisters ages 11 and five were playing with friends when the man asked the younger girl if she was lost, their father told police.

The man then told the girl to get in his vehicle and he would help her find her way home, according to a release from SJSO Public Information Officer Kevin Kelshaw.

The older sister then grabbed the girl by the arm, ran and took her to a friend's house.

The pickup truck was described as white with work equipment in the back. It is not known what the man's intentions are, but the incident is being actively investigated, Kelshaw said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone who has information on the male driver or vehicle described is asked to contact Detective Shannon Andrews with the Special Victims Unit at (904) 209-3998.
