PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- Four people were shaken up when a deck they were standing on collapsed Thursday morning.
The incident occurred in the 2800 block of South Ponte Vedra Blvd around 9:45 a.m., according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. First responders found a deck that had fallen about 9-feet. The injured was taken to Flager Hospital where they were treated and released.
Lindsey Haines who is vacationing from Los Angeles said she heard and saw the deck fall.
"Very loud crack, the crash wasn't as loud as it was cracking away," said Haines who saw the deck collapse from next door where she called 911..
"I turned my head and literally in slow motion the deck fell away. Grandfather and grandmother and their two babies, just saw legs fly up in the air. Everybody landed in a big pile at the bottom," said Haines who along with her family rushed to help the victims.
Haines says she had met the family who like them are from out-of-state on vacation.
The home was built in 1975 and was being rented out by the victims and other family members visiting from Louisiana. The entire deck now is wrapped in yellow tape. Only one section of the deck facing the ocean collapsed.
