It was like old times at Nease on Friday.
But it wasn’t like the last time the Panthers played Ponte Vedra.
Bud Beech was back in Nease’s gym, coaching a tight game with a healthy contingent of noisy students.
This time, Beech was standing in front of the Ponte Vedra bench, and he wasn’t celebrating Nease’s 53-44 win.
The Panthers shut down their former coach by shutting down his son, Beau. It’s the exact opposite of what happened in the teams’ previous meeting. The Sharks won the Dec. 1 game 64-60 when Beech scored 45 points.
