PONTE VEDRA, Fla. – A man is in custody this morning after allegedly stealing a car and claiming to be the “Son of Man.”

A man simply known at this point as John Doe, according to a police report from the St. Johns County Sheriff, is accused of stealing a Toyota Camry this morning from the Tire Kingdom on A1A North.

The stolen vehicle was spotted traveling at a high rate of speed by a deputy on Ponte Vedra Boulevard. When pulled over, the driver allegedly stated his name was, “Jesus,” and when asked for a last name, the suspect replied that, “he didn’t have one that he is only known as Jesus.”

Further questioning led the suspect to disclose his name is actually Jesus Jacubi, but later changed his story and claimed to be named Eddie, according to the report. The suspect did provided deputies with a possible birth date, but so far SJSO has not been able to verify the true identity of the suspect.

John Doe is currently being held in the St. Johns County Jail and is facing charges of grand theft, driving without a license and obstruction.
