St. Johns County watches warnings and road conditions

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A Nor'easter is underway across the region and is expected to linger throughout the day and tonight.

According to a release from the St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center, another two to four inches are expected to fall across the region with strong winds continuing through the evening.

St. Johns County is currently under a Flood Watch through late this evening according to the SJCEOC. If you live in an area of St. Johns County prone to flooding, officials state you should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. 

Officials are also reminding residents not to drive in areas where water is covering the roadway, "Make the smart choice, turn around, don't drown."

According to the SJCEOC, St. Johns County is also under a wind and high surf advisory. Residents are being asked to use caution outdoors.

Man wanted for Ponte Vedra car burglary

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - A car burglary suspect was caught on camera by a witness to his alleged crime.

A photo of a car burglary suspect was captured as he allegedly burglarized a vehicle on the 200 block of Davis Park Road, according to a Facebook post from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect allegedly stole cash and a credit card during the burglary, the post detailed.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, was spotted by a witness leaving the scene in an early 2000's model Ford Taurus with large wheels and tires, according to the SJCSO.

Teen busted for driving without license after crash

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - A Ponte Vedra High School student was arrested Wednesday night for driving without a license after being involved in a crash.

Brittany Hatchell, 18, was allegedly spotted in the driver's seat of a white Jeep Wednesday night when she was struck by another vehicle while trying to make a left turn, according to a police report from the St John's County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived on scene and questioned Hatchell, she allegedly told police she did not have a driver's license when asked for one following the crash. According to the SJCSO report, Hatchell has no record of ever having a driver's license.

Hatchell was booked into the St John's County Jail and charged with driving without a license.

Pricey prom: Spending up for the annual party

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- According to a VISA survey, the families with prom-aged kids will spend $1,078 dollars on the annual party.

The survey found a 33 percent increase in spending since 2011 when the average was $807.

One potential way parents and economical students can avoid some of the high costs is saving on the prom wear. 

Amber Russo works with Goodwill of North Florida and their concept store Bluetique. 

It's part consignment, part boutique with 70 percent of the items donated and 30 percent new.

The Players Championship Media Day at TPC Sawgrass

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The Players Championship will be starting soon at TPC Sawgrass.

Efforts to get ready for the PGA tournament, which runs May 6-12, were shown to members of the media on Wednesday.

First Coast News' Chris Porter spent the day there and learned that fans will be able to partake of more food offerings.
